forbidden motor vehicle race in Mönchengladbach - accident on Breitenbachstraße

An unfortunate traffic accident occurred on Friday, July 12th, on Breitenbachstraße in Mönchengladbach. The police are investigating suspicion of a forbidden motor vehicle race that involves two young drivers aged 21 and 23.

According to the previous investigation, the two BMW drivers drove next to each other the Breitenbachstraße towards Lürriper Straße. They accelerated strongly until there was a serious incident in a right -hand bend just behind the underpass. The 23-year-old driver got on the opposite lane, hurled back on his own trail and collided with the vehicle of a 47-year-old woman who was waiting at a traffic light. The young man's BMW then crashed into a street sign on a central island before he came to a standstill.

Fortunately, the 47-year-old woman only suffered minor injuries and was cared for by the rescue team on site. There was also considerable damage to property on her vehicle. The police secured both BMW vehicles and blocked the accident area while taking the event.

A voluntary drug racing test with the 23-year-old driver was positive, whereupon he was brought to the guard for further examination. A doctor took a blood sample to determine the exact substance content.

The police are investigating both suspicion of a forbidden motor vehicle race and the accusation of hazardous road traffic under anesthetic influence against the two young drivers. It remains to be seen what consequences these reckless actions will have for them.

It is important to take responsibility at the wheel and to ensure the safety of all road users. Such risky and rash driving maneuvers not only endanger your own life, but also life of innocent people.
