Aachen-Ailendorf: primary school Birkstraße starts green energy transition!
In Aachen -ilendorf, the Birkstraße primary school proudly put its new photovoltaic system into operation on Wednesday. This impressive 360 square meter system will produce a whopping 64,000 kilowatt hours of electricity every year, which corresponds to the consumption of 16 single -family houses! The school not only wants to cover its own energy requirements, including the gymnasium and swimming pool, but also to save up to 29 tons of CO2 every year.
The city of Aachen remains ambitious and plans to expand the project to other municipal buildings. In the near future, an additional nine other photovoltaic systems are scheduled to start, and for 2025 there are already 22 other plants on the roofs of local buildings.
