Aachen relies on solar energy: 14,000 kwpeak for green future!
Eilendorf, Aachen, Deutschland - Aachen relies on renewable energies and plans to equip all suitable urban roofs with photovoltaic systems. As part of this initiative, the first facility in Eilendorf was recently put into operation on the roof of a primary school. This facility has an area of over 360 square meters and an output of almost 76 kilowatt peak (KWpeak). This expects an annual electricity production of around 64,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), which corresponds to the consumption of around 16 single -family houses. In addition, this measure eliminates around 29 tons of CO2 annually.
aachen's innovative photovoltaic strategy goes beyond self -consumption. A new system enables the excess solar power to lead where it is currently needed - for example, the traffic lights in the city center can be supplied with electricity at the weekend. The city plans to provide a total of 14,000 kwpeak for its photovoltaic systems, which corresponds to an annual production of 12,500 megawatt hours (MWh) and a saving of 5,600 tons of CO2. While nine other plants with an output of around 590 KWpeak are to be put into operation in the near future, 22 additional PV systems with a total output of around 1,600 kwpeak are already planned for 2025.
