Augsburg: One of the happiest cities in Germany in Glücksatlas 2024!

Augsburg, Deutschland - Augsburg is one of the happiest cities in Germany, as the current study of the Glücksatlas 2024 of the southern German treasurer (SKL) shows. With an overall rating of 7.20 points, the city landed in seventh place in the city ranking, while Munich lags far behind and only occupied the 24th place with 6.75 points. Kassel leads the ranking with 7.38 points and is followed by Erfurt and Aachen.

The survey took into account the life satisfaction of 25,557 inhabitants from 40 major cities, which were interviewed between January 2021 and April 2024. At the same time, various objective quality of life factors such as income and infrastructure flowed into the ranking. Here Augsburg cuts off a little worse and lands in eleven. Interestingly, the study shows that a high income or economic success correlates less with life satisfaction, while family and green factors are considered crucial.
