The rising temperatures signal the beginning of summer and thus also an increasing risk of forest fire. In order to be prepared for the emergency, the fire brigade in Wassenberg carried out an exercise in which a forest fire was accepted, the exact Position of which was unknown.

In order to be able to react effectively to such situations, the fire brigade used a drone to locate the stove. In addition, smoke was created with simulated smoke bombs to create realistic conditions. The first vehicle, a quad of the fire brigade, immediately made its way to the supposed fire stove, followed by the remaining emergency vehicles.

An important focus was on ensuring the water supply and deleting the adopted fire with the help of D pipes. In addition, a vehicle was positioned in front of the Rothenbach residential area to create a water -based swing to protect the residential area with circular racks.

After completing the exercise, a detailed debriefing took place in the fire service equipment house in order to collect knowledge and to discuss possible improvements.

The forest fire exercise not only serves to prepare for potential forest fires, but also shows the operational and professionalism of the fire brigade in Wassenberg. Early preparation and training of the emergency services are crucial in order to be able to intervene quickly and effectively in an emergency.
