Triumphal victory for Isabell Werth at the Chio in Aachen
Isabell Werth was able to record an impressive victory again at this year's Chio in Aachen. The 54-year-old rider from Rheinberg won both the Grand Prix and the Special-and at her second start. With her mare Wendy, she achieved an impressive score of 78.085 percent and was clearly at the top.
The competition was particularly important because the decision about the two remaining places in the German team was in Paris. With their victory, Werth has a good chance of getting one of these coveted tickets and representing Germany in dressage.
The duel around the Olympic ticket was particularly exciting, since Ingrid Klimke also presented herself in top shape with her stallion Franziskus. However, Klimke failed to outdo Werth, and she finally landed in fourth place with 74.596 percent. In third place, Frederic Wandres from Hagen near Osnabrück followed with a strong appearance on his horse Bluetooth and a rating of 76.851 percent.
The decision on the occupation of the German team for the Olympic Games will be announced next Sunday. So far, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl from Tuntenhausen with her mare Dalera has already been a member of the team, after she has already won two gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics and was therefore no longer necessary for Aachen.
