Laschet in border control: CDU boss surprised by symbol policy!

The former CDU chairman Armin Laschet (63) himself got into a border control on his way from Aachen to Strasbourg. The controlling federal police officer kept him what Laschet considered little meaningful: "Not exactly one of the main refugees' routes," he said critically about the measures that were carried out by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD). In his opinion, these controls are more symbolic policy than an effective solution.

In a conversation with the officials, Laschet was disappointed with the effectiveness of the controls. "Every federal police officer who is there is missing for safety at train stations and airports," he said. Even if other routes are known for smuggling, the federal police stick to the orders. An early end of the controls is not foreseeable, since the necessary reforms at European level should not take effect until 2026. Laschet could again have the reason for the lawsuit in the future.
