Save life easy: start new defi courses in Aachen!

In Aachen, an important Initiative has formed that has been committed to the use of defibrillators. An impressive alliance from the Volkshochschule Aachen, the German Red Cross, the Johanniter accident aid, the Maltese Hilfsdienst and the city of Aachen aims to draw the population aware of the easy handling of these life-saving devices.

importance of the defibrillators

Defibrillators are crucial if someone suffers cardiac arrest. Michael Castillo, the senior company doctor of the city of Aachen, says: "Nothing is the worst decision in an emergency." What is special about this campaign is not only the focus on the use of defibrillators, but also the training of citizens in order to increase the chances of survival of those affected in critical situations.

Course offer for training first aiders

As part of the program, a 90-minute course is offered in which participants learn how to use defibrillators correctly and carry out the cardiac pressure massage. Under the title "Every heartbeat counts - saving life with pressure and defibrillator", respect for the first aid should be taken away from the intervention. Castillo emphasizes that there can hardly be any mistakes if you are trained accordingly.

simple access to defibrillators

An outstanding feature of the campaign is the linking of training to the actual availability of the defibrillators. Officially registered first aiders have the option of determining the locations of the devices in the city via an app. A defibrillator will soon be available in the entrance area of the adult education center, which makes access to life -saving measures considerably easier in an emergency.

mediation of security in an emergency

at a time when the prevention of heart diseases becomes increasingly important, the sensitization of the population for life-saving measures such as the use of defibrillators is of great importance. By taking this step, the city not only promotes the security of its citizens, but also strengthens the sense of community, since everyone can learn how important it is to help in an emergency.
