Accident with six vehicles on the motorway - rescue workers in use
Cologne - A serious rear -end collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Bundesautobahn 4 in the direction of Aachen in front of the Gremberg motorway junction. A BMW driver at the age of 50 drove to a VW Touran who was at the end of the traffic jam. The collision was so violent that three other vehicles, including a truck and a towing car, were involved in the accident.
The rescue workers were quickly on site because serious injuries were initially suspected. A rescue helicopter was used, but ultimately did not end up, since ambulance brought the suspected person who caused the accident and the seriously injured VW driver at the age of 53 to nearby hospitals.
The motorway towards Aachen had to be completely closed to the accident from 2:30 p.m. The length of the traffic jam is currently about 6 kilometers, which leads to considerable traffic disruptions.
The exact circumstances of the accident are currently being examined by the responsible authorities. It is important that all road users drive particularly carefully in situations like this to avoid such collisions. We wish the injured a quick recovery and hope that the accident recording can be completed quickly in order to let the traffic flow normally again.
