In the middle of the pulsating inner city of Aalen, flower specialist Johannes Widmann created a living space with his project "Aalen City blooms" that appeals to the senses. The design concept bears the title "domestic river landscape" and contains natural elements from the Jagst-Aue in Ellwangen. In addition to a variety of plants, the area is structured by large cuboids that come from the construction site of the state garden show. This combination of green and blue play of colors is enriched and creates a harmonious environment by colorful flowers such as tin and dahlias.

Johannes Widmann is not only a florist, but also part of a traditional family company that has been active in Ellwangen for 165 years. Working with flowers was put into his cradle, and his commitment is evident in the careful maintenance of the garden and the creative design of the arrangement. "We work in the fifth generation and attach great importance to quality and freshness of the flowers," explains Widmann.

After the death of the former district gardener Dieter Stegmaier, Widmann took responsibility for the Storchenplatz. He sees this a unique opportunity to present himself as part of the Aalen community. "The logistical challenge is great, but it is fun to be creative and implement our motto," he says. Widmann also offers valuable advice so that the bouquets of flowers stay fresh longer. A simple trick is to cut the stem with a sharp knife and to cool the vase at night. "Even glucose in the water works wonders," he adds to extend the lifespan of the bouquets.
