Aalen blooms: Discover creative garden art at the town church

Aalen is a place in which nature and art enter into a harmonious connection. The landscape around the city church has recently received a special upgrade, which is not only aesthetically appealing, but also has a deep connection to the native and nature conservation.

The works of art made of driftwood

In the square in front of the town church, imposing figures of wild animals, designed by the nursery in the long pond, attract attention. These animals artfully designed from driftwood, including Hirsch and Wolf, capture the attention of passers -by. The gardeners Ursula Klewenhagen and Edith Gold have taken up a new topic with these sculptures: the domestic forest. "In the previous years we had a colorful sea of flower, this time we want to focus on the animal world," explains Klewenhagen. This decision reflects the increasing mindfulness of the city dwellers towards the native nature.

the nursery as a tradition

The nursery in the long pond, which has been under the direction of Klewenhagen since 1989, is not only known for its plants. It has developed a name for innovative and creative design elements in gardening and landscaping. The variety of plants that are cultivated here are particularly impressive, from ferns to colorful roses that give the bouquet lovers joy.

A look behind the scenes

The square at the town church, however, shows more than just impressive works of art. On closer inspection, small works of art made of up -cycled material, handmade by Maria Grothaus, a friend of the gardeners are discovered. These small sculptures from tree trunks integrate nature into the design of the square and give the room a playful, artistic character.

challenges from climate change

The nursery has had to deal with challenges due to climate change in the past summer. The water supply was often a major problem because only one fountain is available. With an imaginative water management, the gardeners manage to collect the rainwater and store them in cisterns. This year, however, there is a rethink: after the heavy rains in spring there was not only enough water, but even a temporary flood in the company. "A river moved through our Rosenhaus for a week," recalls Klewenhagen, "but we were lucky that no major damage arose."

conclusion: a place of creativity and connection to nature

The place around the city church in Aalen is not only an eye -catcher, but also a sign of how local initiatives and artists can promote the nature awareness of the urban population. The combination of artistic representation of domestic animals and the use of natural materials forms a bridge between art, environment and community. In the future, this initiative could serve as an example of other cities how to find creative solutions to raise awareness of nature conservation and ecological action.
