On July 14th, the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley marks the third time, a tragic event that cost many human lives. The district town of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler was particularly affected, where more than half of the victims were to be complained about.
The damage to the municipal infrastructure is enormous and, according to a recently published brochure of the Rhineland-Palatinate state government, the costs for reconstruction amount to a total of 4.1 billion euros. Much of this sum is eliminated by large projects such as the renovation of the vocational school in Bad Neuenahr, which alone devours almost 34 million euros.
