Attention dog owner! Poison bait alarm at Berlin's borders!

In the past few weeks, the number of poison bait attacks has increased dramatically for dogs, especially in and around Berlin. In Woltersdorf, a place on the border with Brandenburg, several dogs died after they have eaten bait in the form of minced meatballs with rat poison. The last documented case occurred shortly before Christmas with a border collie mix that died after a walk from the episodes of the poison, as the "Berliner Zeitung" reports. Dog owners should urgently be careful, because further bait could have already been interpreted.

alarming statistics

The dangerous development is not limited to Woltersdorf. The latest evaluations of Your Animal World show that over 1,000 reports about poison baits have been received in Berlin since mid-2021, with an increase of 369 reports compared to the previous year. Dog owners are called to be vigilant, especially in urban areas such as Hamburg, Munich and Cologne. Statistically speaking, the risk that dogs come into contact with contaminated baits is particularly high in these urban centers. Even in other cities, such as Bremen and Dortmund, there are considerable reports about such incidents.

The poison baits themselves are not only provided with fatal substances, but often also interspersed with dangerous sharp objects such as nails or razor blades. This clarifies that there is constant danger to the beloved four -legged friends. Dog owners should create a muzzle to their animals and regularly complete a good poison bait training in order to minimize the risk of an incident. As long as the exact number and type of poison bait are not verifiable, it remains crucial that the holder goes particularly carefully. In the event of an incident, it is important to see a veterinarian immediately to act in good time.
