Sweet zoo offspring: Hinterwald beef Marie inspires visitors!
A cute newcomer conquered the Berlin Zoo: Marie, a hind waler cattle, was born on December 14th. This breed is known as the smallest type of Central Europe and is considered to be threatened. The zoo has held these special animals since 1988, and animal visitors can already admire Marie in the petting zoo 'Hans im Glück'. Mother Martha wore Marie for nine months, which made birth an exciting event, as Philine Hachmeister, spokeswoman for the Zoo, reports.
unique animals and their breeding stories
The Berlin Zoo plays a crucial role in the protection of the hind walf cattle, because this breed was bred by Black Forest farmers in the 18th century and has been at risk since then. The adults can weigh impressive 480 kilograms, which makes breeding and rearing a special challenge. The zoo is determined to maintain the way and plan to welcome a sibling for Marie in spring, which is very pleased with its animal rights activists.
The zoo not only sees itself as a home for Marie, but also as a protective center for many other threatened animal species. With a variety of animals from all over the world, including leopards, elephants and rare species of monkeys, the zoological garden in Berlin is committed to promoting awareness of the protection of endangered animals. According to zooinstitutes.com, the zoo is not only a place for entertainment, but also an educational center for environmental protection.
