Deserved farewell: Stephan Groscurth leaves the press office after 17 years

On January 1, 2025, an official change in the Berlin Administrative Court: Stephan Groscurth, who had headed the court's press office since 2007, resigned from his position as press spokesman. During this time, Groscurth published more than 800 press releases, which often ensured transparency and intelligibility of the judicial processes. The President of the Administrative Court praised his tireless efforts and thanked him for his valuable contribution to press work, as the Berlin.de website confirmed.

In addition to his role as press spokesman, Groscurth, as chairman of the 4th Chamber of the Administrative Court, remains active, which deals with complex topics such as foreign trade law. His deputy Anna von Oettingen now takes over the management of the press office, while the team is supplemented by Kathleen Wolter and the new members David Faßbender and Lilly Sellner.

a life path in the service of the community

Stephan Groscurth, who lives and works in Berlin-Moabit, is not only a judge, but also a committed church judge who has been working on a church administrative court for over nine years. There he deals with a variety of cases that range from legal questions about rectory members to the applications from volunteers. He describes the work as exciting and varied, often filled with challenges that do not occur as often in secular dishes. According to the Evangelische Zeitung, he is convinced that the challenges that arise in the negotiations are not only of legal nature, but also affect interpersonal conflicts that are often displaced in the community.

Groscurth itself is strongly integrated into his community; He brings his passion for music as a choir singer and the role of a mentor for school children. The student visits to the court he organizes should inspire young people for vocational training and show his clear obligation to society. He describes his task as fascinating, since each session means the assessment of conflicts and their solution and it always remains professional, even if this sometimes requires an emotional distance.
