Serious traffic accident on the B7: motorcyclist and tractor in collision - police investigated

several injuries after serious traffic accident in Schmölln

A tragic traffic accident occurred on Tuesday evening on federal road 7 near Schmölln in Altenburger Land, in which several people were seriously injured.

A collision between a motorcycle and a car led to the motorcyclist fell and got on the opposite lane. Fortunately, an oncoming tractor driver was able to prevent a direct collision with the motorcycle through a quick reaction by moving out to an adjacent field. The trailer of the tractor overturned, whereby several tons of barley were distributed on the field.

The seriously injured motorcyclist was immediately taken to a nearby hospital with a rescue helicopter in order to be medical care. The B7 had to be completely blocked for several hours to secure the scene of the accident and to be able to carry out the rescue measures.

The exact cause of the accident is currently being examined by the local authorities and the police to obtain clarity about the events.
