According to an election error, the election as a candidate for the Bundestag for the constituency 66 - which includes the districts of Stendal, Jerichower Land and Altmarkkreis Salzwedel. A chosen secretary was not present, which led to a narrow result. The CDU state manager, Mario Zeising, confirmed the incident and the need for a repetition.

At the election weekend, around 500 delegates from the district associations in Burg near Magdeburg were gathered. Gerry Weber was only able to prevail with a few votes in the original election.
