The closure, which started on August 26, came at very short notice and has already led to significant losses for local companies.

Although the city has decided to officially block the blue pot, some tourists show little respect for these measures. City planner Manuela Irlwek reports that occasionally visitors dealt with the barriers, even if this only happens to a small extent. The situation is a challenge for the city, after all, the construction work should also serve for security.

In the middle of these uncertainties, there are efforts to give visitors access to visitors. Last weekend the construction fence was reopened for a short time, and landlady Schneider-Yigit demanded that the blue pot can be visited at any time during the entire construction period. "The short -term opening is good, but the guests plan their visits in the long term," she explains.

A possible solution to the catering could be a viewing platform that would allow visitors to look at the source while the renovation work is taking place. "Different variants of construction site observation are discussed. The viewing platform is one of them," said Irlwek. Nevertheless, it is unclear how quickly such a solution can be implemented because it must first be approved and bureaucratic hurdles have to overcome.

In addition, the restaurateurs lack effective communication on the part of the city, criticizes Schneider-Yigit. Many of them have reported losses of up to 70 percent because the high season for the tourism industry is between April and October. "The city has been open to discussions, and on Tuesday we want to continue to discuss in the local council," she adds.

The blue pot has a special charm not only because of its beauty, but also because of its mysterious, bright blue color. This is created by the incident light from which all colors are absorbed except for blue. The water that can be found at the 22 meter deep source comes from rainfall in the Swabian Alb and flows over a complex cave system. It has a constant temperature of about nine degrees all year round, but you shouldn't bathe here for nature conservation reasons.
