Young trainees in the Ammerland shine at the farmers' professional competition!
Young trainees from Lower Saxony are currently taking part in the farmers' professional competition. Janto Smit and Tia Hollje from BBS Ammerland, who have qualified for the next round of the competition, are particularly noteworthy. Smit, who comes from Visquard in the Aurich district, completes his training at the Thye GbR in Westerstede. Hollje lives in Garnholt (city of Westerstede) and is in training at the Knabe agricultural business in Edewecht.
In total, hundreds of trainees from northwestern Lower Saxony have demonstrated their skills in theory and practice in BBS Ammerland in Rostrup. Smit comes from a farm with 260 cows and agriculture and plans to study agriculture after his training. It emphasizes how important a good handling of animals is for product quality. Hollje has a family connection to agriculture and wants to improve the poor reputation of the industry by investigating social media. In doing so, she criticizes the spread of negative examples and false claims about agriculture.
success and outlook
Both Smit and Hollje are among the best participants in their school, with the total places nine and ten. You have thus qualified for the state decision, which is held among the top 24 farmers trainees in Lower Saxony. The state decision takes place in Nienburg at the end of April and includes practical tasks with real animals.
The first decisions take place at 42 school locations in Bavaria, while Bavarian Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber and other official persons wish the participants every success. The competition emphasizes the importance of the green professions for nutritional security as well as climate and species protection by demanding participants in various disciplines who reflect their everyday life.
