At the age of 70: Metjendorfer cheers after his first marathon!
The 70-year-old Werner Palm from Metjendorf recently wrote history: he completed his first marathon at the Berlin Marathon with over 58,000 participants! "I had a little doubt whether I would do it. But after half a way I knew: I pack that," said Palm enthusiastically. After more than four decades without sports, he decided to become active in 2017 and joined the "run" group, which quickly became his new life goal.
Through targeted training and a change in diet, Palm was able to lose weight over 17 kilograms and increase its perseverance. The last few meters in the marathon in particular were unforgettable for him: "When I ran through the finish, it rained down paper gücklee," he enthuses. Despite his success, Palm remains modest and plans to take part in the marathon again next year, depending on his fitness. Before that, however, he will take part in the Oldenburg Marathon on October 20 as a half marathon runner.
