Cyclists caught with 4.11 per thousand in Köthen: Criminal proceedings initiated
alcohol at the wheel - also dangerous on the bike
On Saturday evening, the police in Köthen caught a 24-year-old cyclist with an alcohol value of 4.11 per thousand. This shockingly high value shows that alcohol at the wheel can lead to serious consequences not only in the car, but also on the bike.
The officers of the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district carried out control in Ferdinand-Schulz-Straße. During the check, they noticed the strong alcohol smell and carried out a preliminary breath alcohol test that resulted in the worrying alcohol value.
It is important to mention that cyclists are considered absolutely driving and therefore punishable from a blood alcohol value of 1.6 per thousand. This regulation is intended to ensure safety in road traffic and prevent serious accidents.
The 24-year-old cyclist had to undergo blood withdrawal and criminal proceedings were initiated. His onward journey was temporarily prohibited to ensure the safety of other road users.
It is therefore important to be aware of the dangers that alcohol consumption at the wheel brings with it, regardless of whether you are traveling by car or bike. The police have a clear zero tolerance policy towards alcoholic road users and is consistently committed to traffic safety.- Nag
