Structural change in Saxony-Anhalt: 163 projects, 660 million euros in the flow!
Halle, Deutschland - The implementation of structural change in southern Saxony-Anhalt is progressing! With impressive 43 percent of the approved funds from a total of 660 million euros, the region is far above the other affected areas: Brandenburg only reaches 12 percent, Saxony to 18 percent. Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) is optimistic: "We are on the road to success in structural change in Saxony-Anhalt," he emphasizes. In total, up to 2038 a whopping 4.8 billion euros are available for 163 approved projects.
The central initiatives include the creation of a sustainable industrial area and a residential area in Köthen with a total of 70 million euros. In addition, a new industrial area in Leuna is funded with 200 million euros, while Hohenmölsen converted to a climate -neutral district heating system. The construction of the Mitte campus in Halle, which is supposed to attract innovative companies in the field of biosciences, also receives 70 million euros. Haseloff emphasizes that structural change is not just about dismantling, but about investments in the industries of tomorrow, including green hydrogen technologies and the digital infrastructure, which is brought to shape with 35 million euros.Despite these successes, there is also criticism: The taxpayers' association, for example, complains about the planned use of 7.2 million euros for a nature experience center on the Kelbra reservoir, which does not link many to the jobs concerned. The securing of specialists remains a central goal to successfully manage demographic change and falling number of workers, as evaluating structural change illustrates. More on www.mz.de .
