On Saturday afternoon there was a severe collision between a motorcyclist (60) and a cyclist (65) on the B246 in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district. The collision was so violent that the 65-year-old cyclist unfortunately succumbed to his serious injuries and died at the scene of the accident.

The police reported that the Yamaha driver was on the section between Reuden and Nedlitz. In a right curve he lost control of his motorcycle and fell, whereupon it came to fatal collision with the oncoming cyclist.

The cyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and succumbed to his injuries there a few hours later. The motorcyclist, who was slightly injured, was also brought to the clinic for medical treatment.

The exact reason that the biker lost control of his vehicle is currently still unclear. The police have started the investigation into this tragic incident to clarify the background of the accident.

Such a tragic collision between a motorcyclist and a cyclist once again raises questions about safety on our streets. Especially in curves and on federal highways such as the B246, mutual consideration and caution is required to prevent accidents like this.
