Ansbach fights bravely, but stays against Schweinfurt without points
In an exciting cup game, SpVgg Ansbach fought against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 in the first round of the Totopacal at the state level. The game took place in the Ansbach stadium and showed how unpredictable football can sometimes be. On a Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m., despite an early kick -off time, a remarkable number of fans from Schweinfurt had traveled to support their team.
Schweinfurt took command right from the start and immediately caused pressure on the Ansbach defensive. In the fourth minute, the first dangerous campaign occurred when a header by Thomann was safely parried by Ansbach's goalkeeper Heid. Heid, who received preference for slate due to his achievements in the last games, quickly demonstrated his skills. Further shots by Dellinger and Thomann were also fended off, while the Ansbacher initially had difficulty finding into play.
a misfortune for Ansbach
In the course of the first half, there were few offensive campaigns for Ansbach, although the team was often trapped on the defensive. A bright spot was a successful attack, which, however, only led to a blocked shot from Hayer. Shortly before the break, defender Bayerlein had to be injured from the square, which resulted in further uncertainties in the Ansbach defense. So it went with a happy 0-0 for the hosts in the half -time break.
After the change of sides, Schweinfurt quickly took over the scepter again. Heid was again challenged when he had to ward off a shot from Fny. In the 55th minute, Ansbach almost scored 1-0, but a header from Schmidt was thwarted faster by a parade of the Schweinfurt goalkeeper. Just two minutes later, the guests cheered: Foy used a precise combination to bring the ball flat into the net and achieve the lead.
Ansbach tried to turn the game with fresh forces. The decisive impulse gave the substitutes of Kroiß, Barrel and Kestel, which were supposed to enliven the attack. Kroiß particularly had the chance to equalize at an outstanding moment, but failed in the decisive phase due to the Schweinfurt defense. Several corner balls for Ansbach were given, which led to a massive pressure phase. Weeger and Dietrich came very close to the balance, but the ball just didn't want to go into the goal.
a controversial final point
In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the Ansbachers received almost a penalty, which led to a heated discussion among the players. Referee Sebastian Stadlmayr, however, decided against the penalty whistle, which dispersed the hopes of the home side to the much hoped -for equalization. Despite the late rearing, Ansbach stayed without a goal and had to give up with a narrow 0: 1.
The outcome of the game reflects the season that has been mixed for SpVgg Ansbach so far. While Schweinfurt was characterized by a determined and powerful football, Ansbach fought to discover her strengths. Despite the defeat, the second half was an improvement and showed that the team can definitely keep up with the pork fursers.
