From September 16, 2023, five train stations in Germany are transformed into cultural hotspots as part of the “Station to Station” concert series, which was launched by Deutsche Bahn. This initiative brings together an eight-member jazz ensemble and two talented spoken word artists to offer a musical and artistic experience inspired by the sounds of David Bowies. The project aims to alleviate travel stress and give people moments of joy and relaxation.

The concerts that are free of charge include not only the performance of pieces from David Bowie's album "Station to Station", but also selected passages from Gustav Mahler's "The Song of Earth". A particularly remarkable location of these concerts is the train station in Ansbach, where the special event takes place on Wednesday, September 18th at 7pm.

The inspiration for the project comes directly from Daniel Kühnel, the director of the Hamburg symphonists. He is convinced that art has a strong strength to transform everyday stress factors. Railway stations, which are often perceived as hectic transit cakes, are intended to change through artistic performances. "Station to Station" is not just a concert series, but a concept to make train stations of "non-locations" into functional and lively rooms that can offer a break in hectic everyday life.

The final performance takes place on September 25th in the renowned Berlin Philharmonic and represents a crowning conclusion of this series. These concerts are an opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity of Germany and at the same time offer travelers a welcome distraction from the routine and the stress of traveling.
