research and creativity: Cammp Week 2024 in Karlsruhe

The MINT-EC Academy "Cammp Week 2024" started on August 4th at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). This six-day event offers 20 pupils of the National Excellence School network MINT-EC the opportunity to prove yourself in exciting simulation tasks. This is a program for mathematical modeling and illustrates the importance of mathematics in everyday life.

In small groups, the students develop creative, computer -aided solution approaches for real and unresolved research questions. These questions are provided by experts from business, industry and research. The participants receive support from KIT researchers. The Cammp Week offers the students a unique opportunity to use their mathematical skills in practice.

This year's tasks include the planning of transports in complex distribution networks, the optimization of a heating/cooling system for batch reactors, the optimization of metal casting processes and the creation of a model of the suspension system of motorcycles. These demanding tasks require mathematical and analytical skills as well as creativity and teamwork.

At the end of the week, the results are presented by the pupils in front of problems with problems, communicators and employees of the KIT. However, the Cammp Week not only offers the possibility to solve real research questions. The supporting program also includes lectures, study information and leisure activities.

The MINT-EC academy "Cammp Week 2024" will take place in Karlsruhe this year. Schoolchildren of schools from different federal states take part in the event. The Cammp Week promotes the exchange and cooperation between talented students from all over Germany.

The MINT-EC Academy "Cammp Week 2024" is part of the National Excellence School network MINT-EC. MINT-EC was founded by employers in 2000 and has 342 certified schools across Germany. The network offers a wide range of events and support for students as well as advanced training and professional exchange for teachers and school management. The Cammp Week 2024 is an example of the diverse possibilities that MINT-EC offers students to develop their potential in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology.
