He is currently known for his book "Reverse before God", which he together with Prof. Dr. Klaus Zierer from the University of Augsburg. Gottfried is proud of his career and likes to give an insight into his expertise.
The teacher discovered his appointment early on. Growing up in Kirchseeon, the Grafinger Gymnasium was its educational institution. In addition to lessons, he was actively involved in football and Catholic youth. "I always wanted to be a high school teacher, especially in religion," said the 55-year-old. After studying in Catholic religious teaching and German at the Ludwigs-Maximilians University, he moved to Freising in 1995, where he gained his first teaching experience as a trainee at the Dom-Gymnasium.
a professional advancement
he found his first fixed job at the Munich-Moosach high school, where his talent for class was quickly recognized. Already in 2001 he received inquiries from the Ministry of Culture to participate in public relations. His communicative manner led him to act as a press officer for the Minister of Culture in 2005. This time was formative for Gottfried, helped him to further develop his ideas about education and school promotion.
After a few fulfilling years in the Ministry of Culture, he searched for new challenges and, as department head, joined the school department of the Archbishop's Munich Ordinariat. Gottfried was surprised and pleased to take on such a responsibility so early in his career. But he didn't rest on his laurels; When the state government wanted to reorganize public relations after the introduction of the G8 system, Gottfried came into play again.
back to the front of the lesson
The teacher returned to direct school in 2012, which initially instilled respect for him because he had not actively taught for over eleven years. Nevertheless, he was quickly welcomed to the Camerloher-Gymnasium in Freising and was able to pursue his passion to convey knowledge and values to the students. At the same time, he continued his teaching at the University of Augsburg, which prompted him to bring his experiences at the academic level.
Prof. Zierer's surprising request to switch to the University of Augsburg as an academic director was another turning point in Gottfried's Werdegang. With this change, the Camerloher Gymnasium will have to do without a specialist and popular teacher. However, Thomas Gottfried is certain that his experiences as a teacher and in education policy at the university can influence the school system for the positive.
The book "Reverse before God"
The book by Gottfried and Zierer not only includes the imparting of knowledge, but also the development of character and values. The topic is based on the Bavarian constitution, which stipulates the awe of God as the primary educational goal. Gottfried and Zierer criticize the increasing self -surplus of man and appeal to society, humility and respect towards others and to learn themselves. You want to stimulate your work for discussion and more peaceful.
The support of prominent personalities in the book presentation, especially Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann, is particularly remarkable. This recognition shows that the topic is of regional relevance and appeals to interest. "We don't want to missionary," explains Gottfried. "Rather, we would like to contribute to appreciation and ability to endure different views."
With his new role at the University of Augsburg, Gottfried will prepare the teaching students for being successful on their career and passing on the values to the next generation. His tireless commitment to education and his conviction that awe of God is more than academic knowledge, make him an important voice in education.
