Electric car used: Why the Stromer is still behind new registrations

Electromobility: Used electric cars increasingly popular in Bavaria

The market for used electric vehicles in Germany is experiencing a significant growth thrust that is clearly noticeable, especially in Bavaria. Despite the continued increase in sales figures, used electric cars still play a subordinate role compared to new registrations.

In the first half of the year, the electrical share in the new registrations was 12.5 percent - a significantly higher value than on the used market. Baden-Württemberg leads the list of federal states with the highest electrical share in new registrations, followed by Schleswig-Holstein and Berlin. Bavaria occupies fifth place in this ranking with 13.1 percent.

Nevertheless, interest in used e-cars increases noticeably. In the first half of the year, 71,462 ownership of electric vehicles were recorded, compared to 184,125 new registrations. Nevertheless, it can be seen that the used market is still behind the new car market. Interestingly, there were generally more than twice as many ownership transcripts as new registrations for all car categories.

This development shows that electromobility is becoming increasingly important in Germany, both in the new car market and in the used car segment. Bavaria stands out as a pioneer, which is due to the increased environmental awareness and the funding measures of the country. It remains exciting to observe how the market for used electric cars will develop in the future. - nag
