Bathing season at the Helmbachweiher finished: Security is going on!
Elmstein. The summer temperatures invite you to swim, but the district administration makes a clear cut and informs that the bathing season is over the Helmbach pond. The bathing ban was officially imposed on September 1st, and swimming in the pond is no longer permitted. The bathing season ended on August 31 and the changeover from the lifeguard company to renovation work in and around the pond.
The reason for the bathing ban is the ongoing work, in which a so-called mini-mover, a protected platform, is used for sediment. This must be supplied with electricity, which brings with it an acute risk of electric shocks. District Administrator Hans-Ulrich Ihlenfeld urgently appeals to the citizens, also with regard to the announced nice weather, no longer swimming in the Helmbachweiher-security is going on here.
prospects for the Helmbach pond
The work is not necessary for no reason: they should receive the Helmbach pond as a local recreation area. "We know how popular the pond is in the summer, but we are bound to fixed appointments and cannot simply react to an extended summer," explains Ihlenfeld, expressing the dilemma of the district administration. The decision not to extend the bathing season could cause displeasure with some citizens, since the pond is often used to cool down in the warm months.
More information about the technology behind this work is also available. The mini-mover is operated over a sucking creep, which automatically pumps sediments from the bottom of the pond, floats in the water and moves on a certain radius. This is intended to ensure that the device does not get too close to the bank in order to avoid a risk to swimmers. The sediment is guided via a hose into the adjacent helmmach, where it can then be removed.
Another important aspect of the mini-mop is its adaptability: it regulates the amount of the pump-up sediment depending on the flow speed of the water in the helmbach. At high flow speed, more sediment is pumped out, at low speed the funding is reduced or even completely stopped if the water is too low.
The security measures are immensely important, and for this reason the administration would like to emphasize again that people should stay away from the mini-mover. The device is in action around the clock and is scientifically accompanied by the University of Landau, which creates additional trust in the quality of the work carried out.
The decision to ban bathing is therefore not only a measure to protect individual security, but also an important step to maintain the entire local recreation area for future generations. While many want to use the summer months for a jump into the cool water, patience is now asked so that the Helmbach pond will soon be available as an attractive goal for those seeking relaxation.
