Attack on meeting center: six deaths in Lebanon shock!
In Lebanon, an intercultural meeting center was the goal of a rocket attack that cost six people and demanded numerous injuries. Said Arnaout, the 73-year-old founder of the "Dar Assalam" (House of Peace), is stunned: "There was no warning from Israel's side. There is no break and no mercy in the war." Most recently, there were about 80 people in the center, which was often frequented by German visitors and acted as a bridge between Germany and Lebanon.
The Israeli army emphasizes that only targeted attacks against the Hisbollah. But the bombing of the meeting center raises questions. Many of the victims were close acquaintances of the Arnaout couple, which only reinforced the tragedy. Friederike Weltzien, a former pastor, describes the center as a place of help and exchange. Despite the attack, there is hope to rebuild the "Dar Assalam". German supporters plan vigils and stand in solidarity to the Arnaouts who call for peace, stability and support to secure the future of Lebanon. That cannot be the end of the "house of peace".
