Baden-Württemberg trains for an emergency: Large exercise Magnitude 2024!

Mosbach, Deutschland - Baden-Württemberg is a pioneer in disaster protection! Around 30 national and international organizations work together in the impressive EU disaster protection exercise “Magnitude” in order to be optimally prepared for an emergency of a difficult earthquake. Interior Minister Thomas Strobl emphasizes the professionalism and the commitment of the helpers and emphasizes the importance of international cooperation. This exercise is the largest of its kind in Germany and takes place in several cities, including Mannheim, Schwarzach and Mosbach.

A special mobile practice system is used in the port of Mannheim to simulate emergencies on inland waters. Here over 220 emergency services fight against a complex ship accident with a hazardous substance exit. The focus is also on evacuation of a nursing home in Schwarzach, in which the emergency services pay attention to the special needs of the residents. In Mosbach, the focus is on rescue and medical care for injured persons, supported by two helicopters and numerous rescue teams. This important exercise clearly shows that we can only be safe through well -coordinated cooperation in the event of a disaster.
