Autumn turn: Baden-Württemberg is preparing for cooler weather
In Baden-Württemberg there is a drastic change of weather that splits the mind. While the warm summer days delight many, others are waiting impatiently for the cooler autumn air. On the upcoming weekend, summer with temperatures of almost 30 degrees will have its last appearance again before a striking temperature falls.
Stuttgart will experience recovery from the heat on Saturday, September 7th, which will definitely say goodbye. But already on Sunday, September 8th, a noteworthy cooling awaits us to around 20 degrees. According to the graduate meteorologist Dominik Jung, this will be the view of the coming days-with a clear indication of the end of the hot weather.
autumnal sign in Baden-Württemberg
Already on Thursday, September 5th, the first showers and local thunderstorms are announced that bring fresh air and precipitation into the region. Jung speaks of a so-called "heating meter" day on Friday, which will finally dampen the summer feeling with temperatures between 18 and 24 degrees. These weather scenarios give sense that the upcoming weeks will be very important in autumn.
In particular, the southwest will be affected by these weather changes. While warm air will continue to cover northeastern Germany, Baden-Württemberg will have to expect rainfall. For the next few days, the weather model forecasts between 60 and 120 liters of rain per square meter in many parts of the federal state - a lot that ensures a decent refreshing pool in nature and leaves the ground breathed.
winter forecasts: a mild winter or icy cold?
The considerations about the coming winter 2024/25 are already underway. However, the assessments differ: The Climate Forecast System (CFS) predicts a "mild winter" for Baden-Württemberg, with average temperatures that are 1-2 degrees above the climate agent from 1991 to 2020. This prediction relies on a warm winter climate - far from frosty days.
However, the world organization for meteorology (WMO) warns caution. The weather phenomenon La Niña, depending on the strong or weak, could result in a significantly colder winter. Baden-Württemberg could possibly also be affected by rigid frost periods that would challenge people in the region.
The next few days in Baden-Württemberg are characterized by this weather switching, which can trigger both joy and concern. The creeping transition from summer to autumn can be clearly felt and shows how changeable the weather in this region can be. While nature reacts to the upcoming changes, it remains to be seen how the residents deal with this strong change. The minds will probably continue to split when the last warm days of the season are over.
