Warning of uncertain waters: water quality endangers health

Warning of uncertain waters: water quality endangers health

recommendation of the city administration: No bathing in flow water

The city administration is currently warning of bathing in rivers, since they are not designated as official bathing water and therefore their water quality is usually not monitored by the health department. Especially in times of extreme heat and drought, this can lead to a deterioration in water quality, which increases the risk of pathogens.

It is strongly advised to bathe in rivers and not to have dogs drink from these waters. This precaution not only serves to protect human health, but also to maintain the habitat for small animals, fish and plants in the waters.

While the official bathing water is monitored by the State Health Office and whose water quality is regularly checked, flow waters are not part of this surveillance. It is therefore advisable to find out about the quality of the bathing water and prefer to switch to officially designated bathing spots in case of doubt.
