Laser attack on plane: Police hold 50-year-old perpetrators from Kehl!

In a shocking incident, a passenger machine with over 180 passengers was blinded by a green laser pointer on the evening of August 21, 2024 with over 180 passengers on the landing approach to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport. The pilot and his co-pilot were hit twice by the aperated laser beam, but fortunately they were able to react in time and there were no health impairments. Thanks to the quick reaction of the co-pilot, which made video recordings, the investigators were able to suspect a 50-year-old man from the Kehl area.

After a call in the media, several witnesses reported to observe the laser beam. The public prosecutor's office in Offenburg then had a search of the suspect's apartment, in which evidence was ensured. The man now faces a serious accusation for a dangerous intervention in air traffic that can be punished with a prison sentence of six months to ten years. Such irresponsible behavior is a high risk of flight safety and should be pursued.
