After escape: drunk drivers caught in Freiburg!

A 31-year-old man was temporarily arrested after causing a spectacular traffic accident on Röttler Strasse on Monday evening, September 30, 2024. The driver presumably raced too quickly and lost control of his vehicle, collided with a water tank and a traffic sign before crashed into a tree. The car finally came to a stop on the road.

instead of standing, the driver fled on foot. But an attentive witness watched his running and immediately informed the police, who discovered and arrested him shortly after. There is suspicion that the man was under the influence of alcohol, which is to be confirmed by a blood sample in the hospital. His driver's license was ensured while the police estimated the damage to the vehicle at around 2,500 euros. The affected section of the route was completely closed during the accident. The fire brigade and emergency services were also on site.
