As part of an investigation by the Karlsruhe public prosecutor's office, searches were carried out at a couple on Thursday. The 37-year-old German and his 42-year-old Ukrainian woman are suspected of violating existing sanction regulations by offering Russian TV stations through an IP TV service. The investigators suspect that they have illegally spread the broadcaster "Rossiya 1" and "Russia Today" since the beginning of 2022.

The emergency services not only secured extensive technical equipment and written evidence, but also 40,000 euros in cash. In addition, the internet domain of the IP TV service was confiscated. If the couple is convicted, they face at least one year in prison for a commercial commission. The legal allegations are based on EU sanctions that were issued in response to Russian actions in Ukraine.
