Warning strike at Daimler: Duties shake Baden-Württemberg!
Mannheim, Deutschland - The IG Metall calls the employees of the metal and electrical industry in Baden-Württemberg to warning strikes, which particularly affect Daimler Truck and Daimler buses. Today, employees are protesting at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Mannheim and at other locations in the state. These strike actions follow failed negotiations in Hanover, which took less than an hour. So far, around 16,300 employees have participated in the campaigns, and also in production facilities in Rastatt and Pforzheim are striked, reported www.tagesschau.de .
The union calls for higher wages to counter inflation and the falling purchasing power. While the metal workers have only offered 3.6 percent over 27 months, the strikers penetrate a wage increase of seven percent and a remuneration for trainees. In Germany, too, almost 71,000 people took part in the campaigns in 370 operations on the first day of strike. The regional collective bargaining continues in the coming days, with further discussions in Böblingen and other cities.
