Otto-Friedrich University Bamberg
study on the promotion of intellectual health in old age
The Otto Friedrich University Bamberg invites people aged 70 and over to an important study that deals with topics such as memory, attention and vitality. This initiative is carried out by the research team of the Bamberg Living Lab Dementia, which aims to learn more about the challenges and opportunities in the course of memory when getting older.
Open conversations for more awareness
A central component of this study is to carry out open discussions in which the participants have the opportunity to ask questions about their mental health and to receive helpful health tips. Vivien Schreiber, who heads the study, describes that many older people have difficulties in remembering or concentration. "Do you have any difficulties to remember or concentrate things? Did these problems gradually come? - Then you come by," said Schreiber.
meaning of the study for the community
Research has not only an individual meaning, but also the potential to improve understanding of the needs of older people in society. With over 100 people already participating, many report valuable and informative experiences that strengthen awareness of their own memory and attention skills.
course of the study participation
The participants can expect a structured process over two appointments of 70 to 90 minutes each. The first session includes memory and attention exercises as well as general questions about the person and physical complaints. In the second session, an examination of pain sensations during everyday activities such as the lifting of objects or walking is carried out.
Why participate and what can be won?
- Experience an open atmosphere in which you can talk about aging.
- you get insights into your own memory and attention.
- benefit from an allowance of 35 euros per appointment.
