A special factor in this process is the fact that the accused, aged 23 to 43, are also said to have blown up ATMs in Zapfendorf and Forchheim in Upper Franconia. This gives the process an additional dimension before the Bamberg district court.
For the public prosecutor and the court in Bamberg, the process is a logistical challenge. In order to create space for the 16 defendants, over 30 defenders and interpreters, the process takes place in a gymnasium of the federal police.
