City removes the pile of earth on Erba island: citizens are allowed to bring ideas

New plans for the Erba island: Citizens' participation and environmental protection in focus

The residents: Inside the Erba island, you can look forward to a pleasant news: The unsightly mounds in the residential area are to be removed in the next two months, Mayor Andreas Starke announced at a meeting in the town hall.

The citizens' representatives responded to this announcement and also welcomed the offer to bring in strong, ideas for the future design of the area. "I invite everyone to develop suggestions. After the summer break, we will sit down and discuss their ideas," said the head of the city.

An important step towards environmental protection was the renewed examination of the mound, which was necessary due to changed legal regulations. The results largely confirmed the original findings, whereby the increased copper and zinc content was not confirmed in one sample. According to the head of the environmental office, the cover with tear-resistant and UV-resistant film was only a preventive measure.

Good news for the residents: The insolvency court is expected to open insolvency proceedings against Erba Projektentwicklungs GmbH & Co. Vermögensverwaltung in July. This could finally be a constructive discussion about open demands.

Order for earth removal by the end of August

The examination of the mound also formed the basis for an already published tender. Offers can be submitted by the end of July, and the order should be awarded by August 31. At this point the entire removal of the earth material will be completed.

Citizens' participation and environmental protection are the focus of the new plans for the Erba island. The removal of the mounds and the clarification of the insolvency proceedings against the property owners are important steps to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood and to protect the environment.
