accident on the A73: Why adapted speed in heavy rain is so important
On Friday afternoon, an accident occurred on the A73 near Eggolsheim, which again emphasizes the importance of adapted speed in heavy rain. A 43-year-old courier driver was in the direction of Nuremberg when the rain became increasingly stronger. Instead of adapting his speed to the weather conditions, the driver drove too fast and lost control of his van. The vehicle then crashed against the center protection schedule, tipped aside and slid onto the oncoming lane before it came to a standstill. Fortunately, the driver only suffered minor injuries.
The Bamberg traffic inspection inspected the vehicle when the accident was recording. Both rear tires were "completely left" and had "no more profile". These serious technical problems contributed significantly to the accident and illustrate the importance of regular inspections and maintenance of vehicles, especially in difficult weather conditions.
The total damage resulting amounts to around 25,000 euros, and the vehicle had to be towed with severe damage. This incident shows that safety in road traffic should be a top priority and that the risk of accidents can be reduced by simple measures such as adapting the speed.
