Bernau lights up: Schönow primary school celebrates security in the dark!
On October 17, 2023, the city of Bernau started the "sparkle in the dark" campaign for the seventh time, which was launched as part of the nationwide days of visibility. The festive start took place at the Schönow primary school, where the site was illuminated by a sea of lights from imaginatively decorated students, bicycles and scooters. With an impressive variety of flashing accessories, including headlamps and fairy lights, children should draw attention to drivers to their presence.
Students in the 6th grade offered the newcomers a bike check, while various representatives of the police, traffic watch and regulatory office emphasized the importance of visibility in road traffic. The young first graders in particular were honored with warning triangles and reflective materials for their passed pedestrian pass. "You have to be clearly visible, especially in the dark season," recalled an optician when the children benefited from a comprehensive security program in the gym and outside. The exciting day was rounded off by a scooter and bicycle course as well as informative exercises on traffic rules and safety aspects. In advance, further promotions in daycare centers and hoarding in Bernau are planned for the period from November 11th to 15th in order to bring the topic of security closer to children.
