Vandalism at the Schwanenteich: Brutally sawn off two trees!
Schwanenteich, Bernau, Deutschland - Two trees had to let their life now! On the south bank of the Schwanenteich in Bernau, two black and Erlen were brutally cut-just sawed off six meters above the ground. "The upper parts of the tree still hung in the tree connections, only the stubben are left," says Jürgen Brinckmann, head of the infrastructure office, stunned the abuse. Damage of around 3,500 euros is the sad record of this insidious attack.
Brinckmann, who and his employees invest a lot of time and money in the care of the city green areas every day, face a mystery: "Why does someone do this? The trees have bothered nobody!" These valuable plants were intended as a shadow dispenser for the benches and contributed to the beauty of the ecosystem - the more tragic is their loss. The property damage has now been reported, while the stubs stop for the time being until the investigation is completed. This is not the first incident of this kind: At the end of May, an alder in the same area was victim of vandalism. The city continues to fight for its green treasure! More on barnim-aktuell.de.
