Demonstration train in Bautzen: CSD under strict security measures
Bautzen (dpa) - Preparations for the second Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Bautzen were in the shadow of possible right -wing extremists on Friday. Despite the threatening atmosphere, the organizers decided to continue the move on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and hope for the support of around 500 participants. The city is preparing with an extensive police force to ensure security during the event.
planned protests and security measures
For the same day, opponents of the CSD are also mobilized, which under the motto "Against gender propaganda and confusion of identity !!!" have announced a demonstration. Up to 400 participants are expected. The right -wing extremist small party Freie Sachsen also plans to protest with 30 to 50 followers. The police spokeswoman emphasized that the goal of the security forces was a trouble -free expiry of the events.
CSD organizers are concerned about
The situation has already led to cancellation: a final celebration of the CSD was canceled due to security concerns. "We cannot be responsible for this and currently do not have the necessary resources to secure and protect this event accordingly," said Jonas Löschau, one of the CSD organizers and local politics. He recommended that the participants travel to groups to avoid potential dangers.
The reaction of the Saxon Minister of Justice
Katja Meier, the Saxon Minister of Justice, commented on the cancellation and the need to be concerned about the safety of participants despite the importance of the CSD. She criticized the continued agitation against queer people and explained that such ideologies have no place in society. "It shakes me that we have to work here under such conditions," said Meier.
historical importance of the CSD
The Christopher Street Day, who is celebrated in numerous cities worldwide, is reminiscent of the events of June 28, 1969 in New York. On this day, police officers stormed the "Stonewall Inn", a gay and lesbian bar, which led to massive protests by the LGBTQ+community. The CSD serves to remember the fights for the rights and equal treatment of sexual minorities and is a platform for visibility and acceptance.
The planned implementation of the CSD in Bautzen is therefore not only regarded as a celebration of diversity, but also as a brave step against the challenges that queer will be encountered in society these days. The tension between a colorful, open festival and the counter -movement focuses on the need for tolerance and respect again.
