Heavy rain leaves traces: Kelchstein and paths in danger!
water masses have washed the ground around the Kelchstein by heavy rain, which significantly affected the hiking trails. Excavator driver Reinhard Urban reports that several cubic meters of sand have to be brought back to stop erosion. With small, soil -friendly machines, it is ensured that the sensitive rock is not damaged. The good news: Visitors don't have to worry that the Kelchstein falls over. Angela Bültemeier, head of the Zittau forestry, assures that the rock is firmly connected to the massive reason and the stability is not impaired.
The restoration work on the hiking trails should take about three weeks, although the natural monument remains accessible during the construction period. The renewal of the paths is designed in such a way that it can withstand future heavy rain events. For more information about the developments related to the Kelchstein, www.mdr.de .
