Baumgartner's dream: free fruit trees for Igleinsberg!

The orchard pact of Bavaria is enjoying growing popularity! In just two years, impressive 72,000 new fruit trees have been planted - a clear proof of the success of this promising program, which aims at a million trees by 2030. Families such as those of Matthias Baumgartner from Igleinsberg in the Bavarian Forest are already benefiting: 33 free fruit trees now adorn their property, all thanks to simple funding applications that the organization of the Bavarian Forest Nature Park Association takes over.

But demand is not only high for farmers. More and more hobby gardeners are taking the opportunity to harvest unspray fruits directly from their own property. Participation requires a suitable property that is adjacent to the free landscape and is not a building plot. In addition, only high stems are encouraged to create ecological advantages such as habitats for insects. Grants for delivery and care of the trees complete the offer. The orchard pact is not only a step towards sustainable agriculture, but also a profit for supporters of regional products. Details are here to read.
