The snow fails to do: This is how climate change threatens our winter sports!
In the Bavarian Alps, the skiers are in the starting blocks! The ski season will be opened at the end of November, with the Zugspitze as the first ski area to release the slopes on November 29. But climate change is troubled by the industry - lack of snow and rising temperatures press the mood. In particular, the current price increases in ski passes by an average of three percent due to increased operating costs cause unrest among winter athletes. According to the association of German cable cars and drag lifts, skiing remains a good price-performance ratio, despite the increases.
A dark premonition also resonates: The Jennerbahn has already announced that it would hire classic skiing forever. Instead, there will be offers such as tobogganing and winter hiking in the future. With the glacier that loses the substance rapidly, and the partially closed slopes last season, the future of the alpine skiing is on the brink. The lift operators have to reorient and expand their activities: mountain bikers and special attractions such as the Alpspitzkick or the Alpspitzcoaster increasingly attract visitors.
