Catch the Wolpertinger: New hiking project for families in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
In today's world, children spend up to five hours a day in front of screens, which has a negative impact on their physical and mental health. To counteract this, a joint team from Radio Oberland, the AOK Bayern and the Health Region Plus launched a special project: "Catch the Wolpertinger". This innovative family hiking project aims to motivate children and adolescents together with their families, to spend more time in nature and to move actively.
The hiking project combines fresh air with digital elements to increase the motivation of the young participants. Parents and children can master exciting challenges on four selected hiking trails in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. These paths are easily accessible and are also ideal for strollers. The hikes lead around the Riessersee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in the idyllic Bad Kohlgrub, along the cow escape in Farchant and between Krün and Wallgau in the Alpine World Karwendel.
The challenge and the hunt for the Wolpertinger
The exciting element of the project is the use of a special app. The children have to scan codes on site, which are attached to signs along the hiking trails. These codes are associated with questions about nature, health and nutrition. In order to catch the Wolpertinger, the children have to cope with additional exercise tasks. If you answer the questions asked and successfully master all tasks, you can contact the AOK via the app and receive a small reward. In addition, particularly hard -working participants take part in a large raffle at which great prizes are waiting for you.
"I think we are starting with our project-the Wolpertinger-we create an attractive offer for families and children in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district," says Raphaela Habermann, Managing Director at Radio Oberland. "We want to make children get more hiking again and can learn something about nature and health." The combination of activity and playful learning content makes hiking particularly attractive for the young participants.
The AOK Bayern supports the project financially as part of its "Healthy Community" funding program. This cooperation is crucial to realize the offer for the families. "We are happy to support such a project. Movement in childhood is the cornerstone for later healthy development!" Adds Hannes Sörgel, health manager of the health region plus in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. The cooperation between the organizations shows how important it is to develop projects that encourage children to be active and explore nature.
The project is part of a number of activities that aim to promote the health of the younger generation and to strengthen contact with nature. More and more families recognize the need to bring their children away and out into nature from the screens. The beautiful hiking trails around Garmisch-Partenkirchen not only offer movement-friendly routes, but also a great way to enjoy the impressive alpine landscape.
For more information on the hikes and the project, the offers are available in the Bavarian Oberland app, which provides additional details and support. Parents are invited to accompany their children in this exciting adventure and to discover the advantages of an active lifestyle together.
