Health insurance in Bavaria: Administrative Council calls for a stop of the contribution rate spiral

Stop the contribution rate spiral in health insurance

The increasing expenditure in healthcare leads to ever higher additional contributions in statutory health insurance (GKV). The board of directors of the BKK Landesverband Bayern criticized a one -sided burden on the insured and employer at a closed conference and demands urgently needed structural reforms.

dr. Mark Reinisch, the alternative chairman of the employer's board of directors, emphasizes the urgency of structural reforms in view of the financial burden on the contributors. The health insurance companies reach their financial limits due to assets and new expenditure obligations.

Jörg Schlagbauer, the alternative chair of the board of directors on the insured side, underlines the importance of a fair distribution of the contributions. Employees of all industries contribute to the preservation of the solidarity system and deserve that their contributions are carefully managed.

The BKK Landesverband Bayern represents the interests of 16 company health insurance companies with a total of around 3.4 million insured persons in Bavaria. These company health insurance companies have a market share of around 22 percent in Bavaria and play an important role in the healthcare system of the Free State.

It is clear that continuing the current contribution rate spiral is not a long -term solution. The federal and state governments have to tackle the necessary structural reforms in order to ensure sustainable and fair financing of statutory health insurance.
