Otter Ottiene: Klara Bühl's Olympic mascot brings happiness for DFB women
Bühl presents Ottiene, the mascot for the German footballers at the Olympic Games
The German football nation celebrates the unveiling of the new mascot Ottiene, designed by Klara Bühl, striker of FC Bayern Munich. Ottiene should bring happiness to the DFB women of national coach Horst Hrubesch at the Olympic Games in France. An otter with a special story that symbolizes cohesion and success for the team.
Klara Bühl has already gained attention with her crocheted Woll-Koala, Waru, during the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Although the players left the preliminary round under coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, the German selection at Olympics is aiming for a medal. Their group opponents from July 25th are Australia, the USA and Sambia.
The German national team recently had to take a bitter 0: 3 defeat against Iceland. Before appearing at the Olympic Games, the players will play a decisive qualification struggle against Austria at 7:00 p.m. in Hanover on Tuesday
Bühl and the DFB started a call to the fans via Instagram to submit suggestions for the name of the mascot. After numerous sketches and graphics, she ultimately fascinated the story behind the Otter, which stands for community sense. Ottiene, the brown animal with a white shirt on which the Germany flag is emblazoned, a mustache and a shoulder bag, perfectly embodies this motto.
